GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION on MAY 24 with Superintendent of Schools Neil Cavallaro, WHCG President Marilyn Wilkes, and Mayor Ed O’Brien.

West Haven Community Garden (WHCG) is an all-volunteer organization, dedicated to the promotion of locally grown, organic produce. It is located on one acre of property behind Molloy School at 255 Meloy Road. WHCG has plots available for gardening in 2014 from May 1 to October 31.

The WHCG is a 501c3 non-profit, non-partisan, and non-discriminatory. As a multi-cultural and multi-generational program, it will provide West Haven residents with the opportunity to meet people and create community, get exercise through gardening, learn new skills, enrich the environment, and grow nutritious food for themselves, food banks, and local charitable organizations.

  1. I would like to get a plot for my self and if possible a plot in the name of the West Haven Fire Department please let me know.

  2. When will residents be notified if they are to receive a plot in the Community Garden? I didn’t even hear back about any volunteer opportunities to help get the garden planted and any initial work that needs to be done. Thank you.

    • Hi Adrienne,
I sent you an email to the address you gave me. Have you not received anything from me by email? I sent an email saying that I got your application and that you would be notified around the end of April about what plot and how to pick up id badge. You can call me at 203-415-4712 with questions. We are working on getting irrigation installed and a fence. This is the first year we are doing this so we are asking members to be patient. We do plan to have the garden ready for planting on May 24!

  3. Hi, I haven’t received word about my application although I do believe my check was deposited. Please advise when I can ( and how) get started and sign up for volunteer hours.

  4. i was wondering, if you will have a farmers market so that those of us who don’t plant could purchase locally grown produce?
